Dora the Explorer

The biggest cake yet to come out of the Little Bird Bakery.  For my daughter’s 3rd birthday party, I made this 12″ chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream, covered in pink fondant.  It was about 5″ high, had 12 eggs in it and managed to last quite a few days. It was also my first large fondant covered cake and I was quite happy with it. I do need to get better with the buttercream crumb coat though so you can’t see the edges of the cake underneath the sugarpaste.  The internet is such a useful tool, I printed off some colouring in sheets of Dora and Boots and made a template to cut out the sugarpaste.

Most important of all, Hettie loved it, and enjoyed the sparkler and candles with coloured flames.

Musical theme

This batch of 12 were an orange cupcake base with various music inspired toppings.

This sugarpaste cat also sat on a cupcake.  The batch was for a guy who loves chilling out with music and his cat (40th birthday)
