My mum hardly ever gets a cake from me as we’re not often in Northumberland around her birthday. However this year, with a free bank holiday we thought we’d got up to see the Elsdon folk and take her a little something to celebrate her turning 65+.  She’s a gluten free so I made her a squishy carrot cake and topped it with a flower pot to celebrate her new summer house.

Here are some examples from a tester session I did for my friend Adi and her fiance Dave’s wedding. A mix of carrot cake and chocolate cakes.

I helped out a colleague at work raising money for his London marathon run by making a box of cakes to raffle at work.  Had I known that the appetite for raffles never mind cakes was so strong I would have done this months ago! The first prize was a box of chocolate cakes with a rose and three runners up went home with a lovely box of iced biscuits each.  Terrible shame that I didn’t take any photos at the event as we drew quite a crowd!

Our not so little any more, little daughter had her 4th birthday in January and requested a

High School Musical cake. This was a chocolate/vanilla cake and featured my first attempts at

modelling characters.  Troy Bolton wasn’t supposed to be leaning over her shoulder quite as much as

that but Hettie was overjoyed!

Train Cake

My lovely friend Tony (who has had a few ‘commissioned’ cakes from me in the past) was remembered again on his birthday this year with a simple but hopefully tastey chocolate cherry mix.

I’ve bought a new nozzle – can you tell – it’s gorgeous and makes these big rose swirls which are so luxurious and don’t require any flooding first. Ha ha! I do like flooding but it does use up so much more buttercream.

Also I have a new worktop. At last.
